Our collar housings have been developed following extensive use on feral animal species, stock and natives since 1991, and are thus proven to be robust. We currently use the Globalstar and Iridium satellite network, which provide a good signal accesses across the world. But we are always looking around for other satellite providers. Locations fixes can be from twice per week, to multiple times per day, and appear on your internet platform within minutes (and in some applications, seconds) of transmission. The endurance on the batteries in these collars is variable, depending on the number of positions per day or whether they have a solar charging option.
Since 2013 we have also been offering the following additional options:
A note to our competitors wanting to patent the IP: Geofences stored on collars and the associated user alerts and adverse conditioning technologies have been around since 2013 in Australia, and perhaps earlier in South Africa. These algorithms are open source with the earliest published in the 1960's by pioneer Roger Tomlinson. The point of the algorithms being on the collars rather than the WEB site is to save battery usage. This fact is known by most of the mature animal tracking suppliers. These algorithms are being sold in asset management applications as well. Satellite collars start at just a few hundred dollars now. They are made under special licensing requirements with double-bonded hard UV protected plastics with strong plastic embedded straps and survive without cracking the impact of a sledge hammer on concrete. Wiring is military and aeronautical grade. A note to our current pastoralist customers: we do not sell ear tag transmitters anymore because after extensive market research into the cattle market in Australia we determined we could not sell tags above $40 each, which the research revealed. We shared this information with a global satellite provider, thus leaving this market up to others who can achieve this price-point. We believe they will be able to achieve this in the near future with satellite equipment design and manufacture now coming out of other countries in addition to Taiwan and China. Generally, our clients include pastoralists, Rangelands NRMs, Departments of Environment, Universities, Primary Industries Departments. |
Our tank alert systems enable you to save time and money by enabling you to check the water level in your tanks and troughs from the homestead. Using a satellite to internet solution, the units do not require FM relay stations. There is no moving parts, thus improving robustness. The systems come with an secure internet link to that you can check your levels from any internet platform. The frequency of readings can be seasonally altered, so you can receive fewer readings in the wet seasons, and more readings in the dry seasons.
The tank alert systems start at under $450 and include the wireless water level monitor. A once-off connection fee and monthly data supply charges apply. For two way systems where pumps and gate valves need to be turned on, there are additional fees. These tank alert systems have been running for many years on pastoral stations. They are extremely robust (which pastoralists demand) and working in very harsh conditions. Trough levels can also be monitored in conjunction with tank levels. |
Depending on the satellite type, all the above products generally have a once-off connection fee and a monthly fee, and depending on volume purchase amounts, free data..
